As with regular sudoku, the goal of sumsudoku is to place the digits 1-9 so that all the vertical and horizontal rows contain the digits 1-9 once, and so that each 3×3 square also contains all the digits once.

In addition to this, the task's grid is divided into cages, shown with dashed lines. The sum of the numbers in a cage must be equal to the small number in the upper left corner. The same number cannot be displayed in a cage more than once.
